Seeing Mindy Kaling prep for an awards show is like looking in a mirror

What's wrong with being Tina Fey confident when it comes to showing off your shapewear? Absolutely nothing! Just ask Mindy Kaling who shared this pic with her followers on Instagram Tuesday.

The star and creator of The Mindy Project captioned the photo:

"Awards Show prep. America's sweetheart."

And she absolutely is! We love her so much--especially because she reminds us of all us prepping for a big night, right? Squeezing into some shapewear? Check! Applying an effective layer of deodorant? Check!

Mindy presented at the Costume Designers Guild Awards on Tuesday and posed for pics with the talented costume designer for The Mindy Project, Salvador Perez. Here Mindy is in one of his custom creations:

InStyle reported that while presenting, Mindy joked:

"I’m so honored and surprised to be here accepting the Lacoste Spotlight Award for being a style icon in the costume design community,” she said. “Okay, Cate Blanchett is getting that award. What am I getting? I’m being honored by Pillsbury Award for Best Muffin Top.”
