David Bowie's 'Blackstar' gets an Instagram miniseries, starring Tavi Gevinson

Nearly two months since his death, the loss of David Bowie still feels fresh.

InstaMiniSeries, which creates video series exclusively for Instagram, is launching a project honoring Bowie's legacy, aimed at a younger generation of fans — UNBOUND: A ★ InstaMiniSeries, an Instagram-only series of videos inspired by Bowie's final album, Blackstar, starring actress and Rookie creator Tavi Gevinson.

Before Bowie died, he gave the project access to the Blackstar songs, allowing its team "to create our own visual interpretations of his songs, with no limits or preconditions on his part." Don't worry, Bowie purists: he personally approved of the project's vision.

The 16-"episode" project will roll out over three weeks, with the first post going live on Thursday at 8 p.m.
