Anna Wintour is back on the silver screen

Fashion grand dame Anna Wintour arrives for the Met Gala.

The face of Vogue and American fashion is getting another documentary, this time on the bacchanalian fashion fête that is the Met Ball. What is the Met Ball and why does it deserve to be the focus of a whole documentary, you ask? Only the premier red carpet gala of the year, held in honor of the annual exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It draws just about every celebrity you can think of who has an eye for fashion. And those who don't.

"The Met Ball is the Super Bowl of social fashion events," quips André Leon Talley in the newly released trailer.

Andrew Rossi, who directed Page One: Inside the New York Times, followed Anna Wintour and Vogue staff as they prepared for last year's ball that followed the exhibit's theme, China: Through the Looking Glass. He surely learned invaluable lessons, such as:

How much time can go into one seating chart?

Months.

How important is an appearance by Rihanna?

Very.

How seriously does everyone take this costume event?

Deadly seriously.

Taylor Swift, Apple to lead next Met Gala

The exhibit itself drew a record breaking 671,234 visitors, in no small part to the buzz created by Wintour, who is an elected trustee of the museum and namesake of the exhibition hall.

Aptly titled The First Monday in May for its typical date on the social calendar, it should be a fun watch for all those involved — and those wondering what all the ruckus is about. It's set to open April 13 during the Tribeca Film Festival.
