Watch the magical trailer for the 'Pete's Dragon' remake
It's how every classic children's story starts: a boy and his dragon. Wait, what?
The remake of the combined live-action and animation Disney movie you never knew existed, Pete's Dragon, is being remade, and the teaser trailer for its 21st century reboot is here.
The original Pete's Dragon was released in 1977 and was about a young orphan boy who gets sold into slavery to an abusive hillbilly family (yes, really) and runs away. He meets and befriends a cartoon dragon -- who appears to be invisible to everyone else -- and they have merry adventures in a new town. This was a real movie.
The 2016 remake looks decidedly different than the original (for one, the dragon is definitely not a bright green cartoon), and is about a boy who grows up in the wild with only his dragon for company.
Pete's Dragon stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban and Oakes Fegley as Pete. Pete's Dragon hits theaters Aug. 12.
