Got a documentary about baseball and need a narrator? Of course you snag Kevin Costner.

The documentary "Fastball" focuses on the battle between pitcher and batter.

The Field of Dreams star takes hardball fans and moviegoers to the mound for Fastball, a new documentary written and directed by Jonathan Hock that focuses on the ages-old showdown between pitcher and batter. The new trailer for the film premieres here exclusively at USATODAY.com.

Former sluggers like Derek Jeter and Hank Aaron, legendary hurlers Nolan Ryan and Goose Gossage, and current players are interviewed along with scientists and others to discuss the fastball's place in baseball lore, "the primal battle between a man with a stick and a man with a rock," and who in history threw the speediest pitches.

The movie opens in theaters and is available on video-on-demand platforms March 25. In addition, 50 Major League and Minor League markets will be holding special screenings March 24 and fans can request showings in their towns via Tugg.com.

Former Yankees slugger Derek Jeter is one of several baseball players past and present interviewed for the documentary "Fastball."
