Olivia Munn and Jason Segel shook up the SciTech awards

Olivia Munn and Jason Segel rocked the Science and Technology Academy Awards.

Everyone brace yourself.

Because Olivia Munn and Jason Segel put some completely entertaining explaining to work as the hosts of the annual Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation on Saturday night.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards program honored 10 scientific and technical achievements represented by 33 individual award recipients.

One of these achievements was the Image Shaker, the benefits of which Segel and Munn demonstrated from the podium.

Pre-Image Shaker, as viewers saw in shows like Star Trek, operators literally shook the camera to show movement (such as a spaceship hit by a missile) as actors jolted about on the set.

Munn and Segel demonstrated the old way from the podium in what will surely go down as an award-winning presenters performance.

Munn explained that the Image Shaker technical achievement by Michael John Keesling, used in films such as Saving Private Ryan, "creates a customizable shaking effect that doesn't actually move the whole camera."

Segel summarized the science around it amazingly well. But that's in the video.

Unlike other Academy Awards achievements, Scientific and Technical Awards were not necessarily developed during 2015. Rather, the achievements must demonstrate a proven record of contributing significant value to the filmmaking process.

Portions of the Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation will be included in the Oscar telecast on February 28.

Here is the complete list of honorees.
