Beyoncé once turned down an 'awful' Coldplay collaboration

When you know she's right and you're wrong.

We should all be thankful that Beyoncé joined Coldplay for their Hymn for the Weekend, considering it's a fun song and it's helped bring Bey to that whole Super Bowl halftime show thing. And we should also be thankful that she waited for that particular song to collab with the British band on. Because apparently there was a much, much worse option.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Chris Martin revealed that he once brought a song (called Hook Up, cringe) to Beyoncé and her producer for consideration, and the answer was a big (but very polite) "no."

"(Beyoncé turned the song down) in the sweetest possible way: She told me, 'I really like you – but this is awful.'"

You know, sometimes you just have to hear the truth. And it always helps if it's from Beyoncé.

Speaking of amicable splits, Martin also opened up about his very good relationship with a certain conscious uncoupled ex-wife of his, Gwyneth Paltrow. He explained to the magazine:

"I have a very wonderful separation-divorce. It's a divorce – but it's a weird one. I don't think about that word very often. I don't see it that way. I see it as more like you meet someone, you have some time together and things just move through."

OK. Sure. We got it.
