Netflix announced Friday that it has renewed its award-winning show Orange is the New Black for three more seasons, which will continue to be produced by the show's creator, Jenji Kohan.

“Three more years!  Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things.  In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don't live in those cultures,” said Kohan said in a statement. “Here's to keeping it interesting.  Thanks Netflix!  Both thanks and you're welcome Lionsgate!  And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers... with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show.  Three more years!  Three more years!”

The already announced fourth season of the series will premiere Friday, June 17. Seasons 5, 6 and 7 will premiere in future years.

The comedy/drama had another reason to celebrate this week. The cast of the show won the award for best ensemble cast in a comedy at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday. In her acceptance speech, star Laura Prepon cited the show's diverse cast.  "Look at this stage! This is what we talk about, when we talk about diversity!" she said during her speech, for OITNB's second win of the night (Uzo Aduba took home the award for best comedic TV actress).
