The Withings Thermo is smart and speedy.

The Thermo smart thermometer is anything but average. The device, which Withings unveiled at CES 2016, is larger than most, with a soft, green suction cup-like end. Place this against your temple and push a button to activate 16 different infrared sensors. In just two seconds, the sensors will take nearly 4,000 measurements, then use the data to find and record your warmest temperature.

This Smart Thermometer Tracks Your Temp

The display on Thermo is basic but clear. LEDs glow green when your temperature is in the normal range, orange at higher temps, and red for a fever. Thermo wirelessly connects with your smartphone via wifi or Bluetooth to track temp over time.

You can add notes to the temperature readings in the Thermo app.

Other data, such as medications administered, symptoms, or food, can be added manually if you'd like to chart more than just temperature.

The app also allows you to create profiles for each family member. By swiping up or down on Thermo's temperature reading, you can assign the temperature to the appropriate user. Thermo operates on 2 AAA batteries which should last about two years.

Assuming Thermo reads temperatures as accurately as Withings claims, it may be the only thermometer you ever need to buy. The device will be available for purchase in Q1 of 2016 and will retail at $99.95. That's significantly more expensive than other thermometers on the market, but for people who are prone to fevers or families with young children, the convenience may be worth the price.
