ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wegmans Food Markets is recalling 1,125 pounds of marinated chicken products that had not undergone federal safety inspections.

The products, packaged Sunday and sold under the Wegmans name, are:

• Wegmans Italian Flavored Chicken Breast Cutlet, in vacuum-sealed packages weighing approximately one pound, with a use-by date of 1/24/2016.

• Wegmans Brown Sugar Barbecue Seasoned Chicken Breast Cutlet, in vacuum-sealed packages weighing approximately one pound, with a use-by date of 1/15/2016.

• Wegmans Garlic & Fennel Whole Chicken Roaster, in vacuum-sealed packages weighing approximately three pounds, with a use-by date of 1/13/2016.

Consumers were urged not to consume the products but to return them to the Wegmans store where the product was purchased for a refund.

The marinated chicken was shipped to distribution and retail locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The Rochester-based company has 88 stores.

No adverse health effects associated with consumption of the uninspected products have been reported, according to news releases from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Wegmans.

The products were shipped without inspection because Wegmans added a shift at a food production facility at a complex in Chili, N.Y., and inspectors were not present, said Jo Natale, a Wegmans spokeswoman.

The USDA news release, issued late Tuesday, said the packaging bears the establishment number “EST. or P-7567” printed inside the USDA mark of inspection.

A fourth product named in the USDA news release should not have been included in the recall, Natale said. It was marinated chicken made for use in prepared foods sold at Wegmans stores, and was recovered before any of it was consumed, she said.
