Huisken Meat Co., a Minnesota company, is recalling Sam's Choice Black Angus beef patties with 19% Vidalia Onion. Sam's Choice is an exclusive Walmart label.

A supplier of Walmart meat products is recalling almost 90,000 pounds of beef that may be contaminated with "extraneous wood materials," according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Huisken Meats Co., a Sauk Rapids, Minn., meat producer of Sam's Choice Black Angus beef patties, is recalling 89,568 pounds of the patties produced on various dates between Nov. 19 and Dec. 9.

The products were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The recall, announced Monday, affects 2-pound boxes of Sam's Choice Black Angus Beef Patties with 19% Vidalia Onion with use-by dates of May 17, May 29 and June 6, 2016, and with establishment number “EST. 394A” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

"This recall impacts select Walmart stores and there have been no consumer complaints, illnesses or injuries reported to date," said John Forrest Ales, a Walmart spokesman.

He said that as soon as they learned of the recall of "Sam's Choice Black Angus Vidalia patties, we immediately notified our stores to pull and destroy all affected product."

Sam's Choice is a Walmart "private brand," Ales said. The recall does not affect Sam's Club, he said.

Officials say the contaminant originated with an incoming ingredient and was discovered during production.

"There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products," the USDA said in a statement. "Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider."

Customers who purchased the recalled products are urged not to consume them. Officials say the product should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
