Baby abandoned at Christiana Hospital

An anonymous woman abandoned a newborn at Christiana Hospital on Dec. 29, State Police said.

Hospital staff said a woman walked in around 9:15 a.m. and turned over the infant male, saying only that he had been born about two hours earlier. No other information was obtained due to the right of the parent to remain anonymous.

The hospital immediately took the child in and began providing after-birth medical treatment. There were no signs of neglect or abuse, and the infant appeared to be in good health.

The child will stay in the hospital's care he is turned over to the Division of Family Services.
