Former President Jimmy Carter will discuss his cancer diagnosis at a news conference set for Thursday morning, his office said Tuesday.

The session will come a week after the nation's 39th president issued a statement announcing that "recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body."

Carter, 90, said at that time that "a more complete public statement will be made when facts are known, possibly next week."

The news conference will be 10 a.m. ET Thursday at the Carter Center in Atlanta.
